I enjoy being able to look at such a wealth of information and draw my own conclusions based on my knowledge of the history and culture. I think the more speculation the better :P

He didn’t write it. The comment Sensei Estrada makes about it being in English initially makes me wonder if someone took some classes and wrote down as many notes as they could and then put them all together.

Either way – I love his points about money and hidden bunkai and will be elaborating on them shortly.

I have to say that it doesn’t seem to read like an essay, flowing from topic to topic, but then again perhaps Chibana Sensei simply wrote in this manner? I can’t say for certain, of course, but I do like your idea of it being a collection of shorter essays or, perhaps, spoken dissertations rather than one long essay.
